Snap a receipt

Take a photo, enter the total and a category, and finish the details later from Receipts to finish.

The phone captures, the laptop reviews. Snap the receipt the moment you get it, and fill in the rest when you're at a desk.

Snap it

  1. Tap New, then Snap receipt. On a phone, it opens the camera.
  2. Take the photo.
  3. Enter the total you paid. We work out the HST included at 13%, the Ontario rate. Change the tax if it's different, or choose No tax.
  4. Pick a category. Your recent ones are at the top.
  5. Save. Tap Snap another for the next one.

Finish it later

Quick receipts go into Receipts to finish on the Expenses page (the To finish view). Open it to add:

  • the vendor and date,
  • the supplier's GST/HST number, if the receipt shows one,
  • any notes, like who you met for a business lunch.

Saving the full form takes it off the list.

Typing it in instead

For a bill that arrived by email, tap New, then Add expense, and attach the PDF.

Keep the photo

CRA can ask to see receipts for six years. A clear photo stored with the expense counts as your copy. See What a receipt needs for CRA and Keep records for 6 years.
