Import a bank CSV
Download transactions from your bank and turn each line into a payment or an expense with one tap.
Bank import is under Money out, then Bank import. Nothing goes into your books until you tap.
1. Download a CSV from your bank
In online banking, open the account, find Download or Export transactions, and choose CSV. Pick a date range, such as last month.
RBC, TD, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC, Desjardins and Tangerine are read automatically. For other banks, you choose which column is the date, description and amount.
2. Upload it
Tap Import a CSV, choose the file (up to 5 MB) and check the preview. You can name the account, like "Business chequing". Lines you already imported are skipped.
3. Review each line
Lines land in three tabs:
- To review. For each line, CollabNorth suggests what it is:
- money in that matches an unpaid invoice: Record payment,
- money out with no match: pick a category and Create expense,
- a transfer between your own accounts or a personal purchase: Ignore.
- Matched. Lines that exactly match a payment or expense you already recorded. Accept all matched links them in one go. Nothing new is created.
- Done. Lines you've dealt with. You can reopen one if you change your mind.
Tips
- Import monthly. A few minutes each month beats a weekend in April.
- An expense made from a bank line has no receipt photo. Add one if you have it.
- Only the owner can delete an import, and only before any of its lines have been recorded.
