Send your first invoice

Pick a customer, add your lines, check the tax, and send. About two minutes.

Write the invoice

  1. Tap New, then New invoice. Or open Invoices and tap New invoice.
  2. Header. Leave the invoice number on Auto and it is assigned when you send. Set the invoice date and a due date. Pick the customer under Bill to.
  3. Items. Describe the work or goods, then the quantity and unit price. Saved items can be added with From library.
  4. Tax, notes and totals. CollabNorth works out the tax from your registrations and the customer's province. The grey box says which tax applies and why.

Check before you send

  • If the customer is in another province, you'll see a note. Tax follows the place of supply, which is usually the customer's province. See Charging the right tax by province.
  • If something is missing for CRA, such as your GST/HST number, the invoice tells you before you send.

Send it

Tap Send invoice, then Issue and send. The invoice gets its number and is locked so the record can't change later. Then, on the invoice page:

  • Email invoice sends it to the customer with a link to view and download it.
  • Copy share link gives you a link to paste in a text message.
  • Download PDF if you want a file.

Not ready? Save draft keeps it so you can finish later.
